TGTE says Tamils are ready to testify

Several Tamils who are either victims or witnesses of the war are eager to testify before a UN led investigation to seek justice for the mass killing of their relatives and other Tamils, the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) said. TGTE leader Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran appealed to the Prime Minister of Portugal Pedro Passos Coelho, who met President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday, to raise with Sri Lanka the issue of security for witnesses who will be testifying before the led UN inquiry. Britain, Germany and France agreed on Sunday they should be ready to ratchet up sanctions on Russia over the downing of a Malaysian jet carrying 298 passengers when European foreign ministers meet in Brussels on Tuesday. Meanwhile rebels in eastern Ukraine on Sunday took control of the bodies recovered from downed Malaysia Airlines plane even as U.S. and European leaders demanded that Russian President Vladimir Putin make sure rebels give international investigators full access to the crash site. Thus, the position needs to change hands by 2015. The SLMC won seven seats at the election held in September 2012; UPFA won 22 seats including the SLMC seats. COLOMBO: A Sri Lankan Tamil party on Sunday called for the formation of a new secular national political front with participation from majority Sinhalas and minority Muslims to find a credible solution to problems of the Tamil people.
