The government’s appointment of a committee as an alternative to Navi Pillai’s committee is an infringement by the government of its own policy of opposing outside mediation, says the government affiliate JHU a well known anti Tamil racist party in a statement. The statement by its media spokesman Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe says his party has neither been informed nor consulted as a UPFA partner regarding the appointment of the committee. Warning the country about this committee, the JHU says it strongly objects to its appointment. It notes the LLRC established to counter the Darusman report had boomeranged on the Sri Lankan government, and the new committee would similarly rebound on the government and the military killing of more than 40,000 Tamil Civilians in May 2009. It is very seldom that SLFP politicians have a kind word to say about the late President J. R. Jayewardene, who is blamed for all present-day politico-economic or even socio-cultural ills in this country. But, never do they hesitate to emulate him when it serves their purpose. They make a public display of their contempt for the Constitution he introduced in 1978 while making the best use of it to perpetuate their power; they won’t let go of the executive presidency which they once dubbed the mother of all evils. Minister Basil Rajapaksa, however, has, in an interview with a weekend newspaper, broken with the SLFP tradition to appreciate something the late president did. JRJ, he says, had the wisdom not to appoint senior party […]

Why would Bank of Ceylon want to open branches in Seychelles & Solomon Islands? Why does Mihin Air fly to Seychelles?  Despite their stated Vision of “Bankers to the nation” and the Mission – “Extending banking service to larger society as a beneficial beacon in the country” it’s not so difficult to understand which ‘nation’ or the ‘section’ of the Sri Lankan society Bank of Ceylon is trying to serve with their recent opening of a branch in Seychelles.   With a population of 90,024 and rated as the highest income inequality country in the world, Seychelles has less than 100 Sri Lankans living there. Seychelles is also considered as the money laundering base in Africa and a haven for dirty money! There have been […]

(Lanka-e-News- 28.Nov.2013, 11.55PM) It has come to light that the Rajapakse regime’s announcement regarding SL defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse’s tour of Italy is an absolute lie , as he has in fact gone to Italy to open a secret account to deposit his ‘black monies,’ according to reports based on Lanka e news foreign service. Following the Lanka e news report on Gotabaya’s Italian tour ,the regime desperately explained that he went to Italy as a special representative of the President to meet and invite Rev. Pope Francis to visit Sri Lanka. The true picture is Gotabaya had gone to Italy to transfer his black money to a secret account in Italy , and hence the regime’s explanation is to camouflage the truth. The reason corroborating this true […]
