MAHINA insults intellect of voters

Kurunegala district UPFA candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa is insulting the intellect of the voters by giving very silly promises to voters including youth to deceive them and capture power by hook or crook. Rajiv Gandhi killers will not be hanged, confirms SC

The Supreme Court dismissed on Wednesday the centre’s curative petition against its 2014 judgment commuting the death sentence of three convicts to life term in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, upholding a verdict that brought into focus the inordinate delays in executions in India. The central government plea had sought a review of last year’s decision when the SC reduced the punishment while saying the prisoners had been on death row for too long. “We have gone through the curative petitions and the relevant documents. Minister of Food Security Gamini Jayawickrama Perera this week said that widespread abuse of State resources by Mahinda Rajapaksa during his tenure as the President is still under probe and recent political statements of the latter are just to hoodwink the masses. “Investigations are proceeding on allegations of fraud and corruption against him and his henchman.  Therefore, it becomes a joke when he makes payment for the use of his official vehicle and boasts of it.
