Attempt by MP to set himself on fire blocked

An attempt made by United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Vadivel Suresh to set himself on fire was blocked by Parliament police. The Parliamentarian was stopped at the entrance to Parliament by the Parliament police when he was seen taking a bottle of petrol inside. The police removed the petrol bottle and the authorities together with several Parliamentarians escorted the MP to the chamber. Rudra’s TGTE decides to continue push for Eelam

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE), led by former LTTE peace negotiator V. Rudrakumaran, has decided to push ahead with the  struggle for Tamil Eelam. TGTE members were called upon to give their opinion to the self styled ‘TGTE Parliament’ on the different aspects of the hybrid courts and help analyse their potential for and drawbacks in delivering justice to the victims of the “2009 genocide against the Eelam Tamils” in Sri Lanka. The TGTE has recommended pursing charges of genocide against the Sri Lankan Government and gathering the legal and other resources for this purpose.
