”You have sil-redi thieves there. You have drug dealers there. There are tsunami thieves, carom board thieves, cement thieves.  You could not investigate any theft for 10 years. You killed Lasantha Wickramatunge, you abducted and killed Ekneligoda” says the PM Ranil. But the big question is ”Why aren’t they arrested and charged now?, Who is helping them from being arrested and charged now? PM.” Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday said in parliament that the resignation of Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake signified a new political culture and he was proud of having ushered it in. Addressing parliament soon after the resignation of Karunanayake, the Prime Minister said: The Assistant Leader of my party told me that he needed to resign from the ministerial portfolio. I told him to […]

By Brian Senewiratne – Dr. Brian Senewiratne Continued from Tuesday Equipment Here is a victim: “I saw plastic pipes, bottles filled with something, a tap with a hose attached, a plastic can or bottle filled with something.  In the corner of the room there were wooden batons, PVC pipes, wires and nylon rope. I noticed a barrel full of water in the corner of the room. I think I saw some polythene bags next to the water barrel. I could see a table, wires, wooden sticks, blood marks on the wall. It looked like a torture room”. These torture rooms are common and suggest there is nothing opportunistic or unsanctioned about the abuse. It also indicates that torture is routine and that commanders are fully aware of torture rooms. […]

TURNING back from devolution by Prof G L Peiris

11th August 2017 // 0 Comments

An Open Letter to Prof G L Peiris: Prof G L Peiris Leader, SLPP. Dear Professor Peiris, I thought I must write to you despite your obviously busy schedule, both because you at least nominally lead one aspect of the Rajapaksa comeback project under the banner of the nascent SLPP and also because you are, unarguably, as a former foreign minister, a key advisor to defeated President Rajapaksa on matters relating to post war, national reconciliation. I must at the outset explain why I stated that you lead one aspect of the Rajapaksa comeback project because it is never clear to any observer or the public, which brother number two (pardon the pun) Basil or Gotabhaya proposes to replace Mahinda as the heir to the attempted […]

Joint opposition MP’s who are accused of large scale frauds and murders during the rule of Mahinda are using the racist card for their survival and PM Ranil is accused of helping them to cover up their acts by using his powers as the PM.
