Kandasamy Ponnamma is still haunted by the sight of her son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren waving as they were taken away by Sri Lankan troops in May 2009. Ms Ponnamma wept helplessly as the bus carried off her loved ones, soon after security forces defeated Tamil Tiger rebels. Data Suppression by Sinhala Government : Preliminary Identification Survey For Disabilities & Women Vulnerabilities In Tamil Province

The above-titled survey was done by the Ministry of Health, Northern Province of Sri Lanka with the support of an expert panel under the directions of Hon. Provincial Minister of Health, Dr. P. Sathiyalingam. The three districts of Kilinochchi, Mannar and Mullaitivu were covered. Here is a preliminary report based on their report. This was meant to be a survey of the Northern Province. However, after the Kilinochchi data was released, the government felt uncomfortable and ordered the suppression of the Mullaitivu and Mannar data which Colombo Telegraph has accessed and produces here. The Permanent High Court-at-Bar set up to hear high-profile financial frauds and corruption cases yesterday served indictments on former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and six others. This is in connection with an incident that the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum and Memorial in Medamulana was built using public funds amounting to Rs.33.9 million. When the seven accused appeared before Trial-at-Bar Bench comprising High Court Judges Sampath Abeykoon (President), Sampath Wijeratne and Champa Janaki Rajaratne they were ordered to be released on bail.
