Tamil demonstrators say Times report backs massacre claims

4655_1078132994015_1246958693_30212242_7826191_nTamils who have been demonstrating for almost seven weeks under the shadow of Big Ben in Parliament Square welcomed today’s Times report into the “hidden massacre” of Tamil civilians, which they said backed up their own claims.

 

The demonstration, which police say is illegal, has regularly attracted hundreds of people to the parched grass square opposite Westminster.

Supporting them is Tim Martin, a former British aid worker who is on the 13th day of a hunger strike to press their case. Mr Martin said today that the massacre showed that the Sri Lankan Government had “no concern for human life”.

Sivendran Nadarajah, 20, an accountancy student at South Bank University, added: “I would like to thank The Times on behalf of all the Tamil people. No-one really brought out the truth, even the UN didn’t bring out the truth but you guys did it.”
