Minister of Public Order and Christian Affairs, John Amaratunga today slammed the opposition for saying they will go to Geneva to seek support against action being taken by the Government on some members of parliament.
Speaking to reporters, Amaratunga said that the international community is well aware of the corrupt activities of the former regime.
“The opposition members must be told to go to Geneva and return safely as action might be taken against them even in Geneva,” the Minister said.
Former Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena had said yesterday that some opposition members will go to Geneva in two weeks and seek the intervention of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Amaratunga said that Ranatunga was getting agitated over the comments he had made saying that some members of the provincial council are corrupt.
“All I can tell him is, if the hat fits, put it on,” the Minister said. (Colombo Gazette)
