A reputed Sri Lankan civil lawyer and presidents counsel Romesh De Silva has been appointed as the Sri Lankan high commissioner to the United Kingdom. His appointment has been certified by the High Post Committee in the parliament.
Romesh De Silva who has been a lawyer for four decades recently appeared behalf of the Central Bank Governor in the Supreme Court and he also appeared for the most controversial case of the former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksaand obtained an injunction order preventing him to get arrested.
Meantime High Post Committee in the parliament has accepted the appointments of General Jagath Jayasooriya and Lieutenant General Daya Rathnayake for Brazil and Pakistan.
Senior officers in the foreign ministry said despite these two people have allegations for involving in a coup on the 9th of January following the election it is a tribute given for them to get appointments in foreign postings.
