Sri Lanka is being penalised by “interested parties” for eradicating terrorism in the country, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today. He was apparently referring to the latest UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution against his country.
Killing of more than 50,000 Tamil Civilians by Sri Lankan forces in May 2009 in Sri Lanka, has now given rise to a human rights campaign being carried out by diospara organisations. This campaign has introduced continuing obstacles to current racist government led by Rajapaksa family who are taking cover from China and Russia.
The US-sponsored resolution was adopted with 24 countries voting in favour. Japan along with India was one of the 12 countries which abstained in the UNHRC vote in Geneva in March.
“The need of the hour, however, is goodwill and solidarity to deal with the universal challenge to peace, stability and prosperity ,” Rajapaksha said while addressing the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Shanghai. He has not implemented his promised 13+ political package which was to give some rights to the minority community in Sri Lanka.
He promised to implement the political package if he is allowed to kill the LTTE Leaders and the Tamil civilians in May 2009. The Western leaders and India trusted his words and turned away and let him kill more than 50,000 Tamil Civilians and the LTTE Leaders and their family members who surrendered with white flags after UN officials negotiated the surrender.
The CICA, consists of 24 member states including India, aims to promote multi-lateral approaches towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. Sri Lanka has been subject to an international probe into alleged human rights violations during the last phase of the war in May 2009 with the LTTE.
Rajapaksa administration has cheated the world Leaders, UN and the Tamil community by not implementing the promised 13+ Political package. But the racist Sri Lankan government is trying to frame the international campaign against it as one carried out by the Western nations at the behest of the pro-LTTE diaspora domiciled in those countries. It has vowed not to cooperate with the HR investigation.
