SERIAL SEX OFFENDER RAPED AND KILLED GIRL HE LURED ON FACEBOOK
A SEXUAL predator kidnapped, raped and murdered a teenage girl after using Facebook to lure her into his clutches. Serial rapist Peter Chapman, 33, devised a “calculated and wicked” plan to trap 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall and kill her. Chapman convinced her he was “Pete aged 19” after posting a photo of a bare-chested, good-looking boy on the social networking website.
He then pretended to be “Pete’s dad” and picked her up from her home in Darlington, Co Durham, so she could meet the boy of her dreams. But the serial sex attacker drove to a lover’s lane where he raped and strangled her before dumping her body on farmland near Sedgefield. The following day, Chapman was picked up by chance for minor motoring offences. At a police station he confessed: “I killed someone last night. I need to tell somebody from CID where the body is. I couldn’t just leave her like that. Has anyone been in touch with her family?” …………. http://dailynewspaper.co.uk/
Facebook murderer who posed as teenager to lure victim jailed for life

A serial sex offender was today sentenced to life in prison after he admitted kidnapping, raping and murdering a teenager whom he ensnared using a fake profile on Facebook. Peter Chapman was told he must serve at least 35 years in prison by judge Peter Fox today, following the killing of Ashleigh Hall, who was 17.
The judge said he was “a very great danger to young women, and for what it is worth, I cannot foresee your release”. Sentencing him at Teesside crown court, the judge said Chapman had been the architect of “an evil scheme, very carefully brought, and with considerable detail, to trap your victim”. The killer had claimed to be a handsome teenager and used the profile to lure the teenager into meeting him after he befriended her through Facebook. In reality, he was an emaciated, 33-year-old convicted double rapist, who was almost toothless and living in his car……….. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/mar/08/peter-chapman-facebook-ashleigh-hall

HOW PARENTS ‘MUST DO BETTER’ WHEN IT COMES TO HOMEWORK
THE average British parent cannot answer a typical GCSE question on subjects being studied by their teenage children. Just under one in five (19.7 per cent) gave the correct responses to questions taken from GCSE maths, science, history and geography, according to a new survey. The poll of 500 parents for the online version of Encyclopaedia Britannica, found men scored better than women, getting the right answer an average of 27.2 per cent of the time.
Britannica Online has produced a free web guide for parents and students, with tips on accessing information from the internet. Polling company GfK NOP tested 500 parents of children under the age of 16 in a face-to-face random location survey last month…………….
