- Meanwhile General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera is contesting from the Bodu Jana Peramuna (BJP) with 15 other monks.
- Leader of the Jana Setha Peramuna (JSP) Ven. Battaramulle Seelarathana Thera is also contesting with 16 monks.

The article under the title ‘What’s the bug betwixt Sujeewa and Malani’ appeared on 12 April while the other article was titled ‘Customs say Deputy Minister tried to get seized copper rods released’. According to the complaint filed, this headline said that Customs had stated that the deputy Minister had attempted to get a load of copper rods which had been banned released.
The complaint also pointed out that Senasinghe is a lawyer by profession and that he is reaping a successful harvest through his profession and that he entered politics as a member of a provincial council and later was elected as a member of Parliament and recently was appointed as the deputy minister of justice and that the country recognizes him as a popular young politician.
Senasinghe who said that these two articles which were published with malicious intent has harmed his reputation as a successful lawyer and a popular young politician, also said that he is requesting from Wijeya Newspapers compensation of Rs 2,000 million for the harm caused to his reputation and peace of mind.
