Tamil students in Delhi chant anti-Rajapaksa slogans to dissuade him from attending Modi’s swearing-in
A Tamil students group called Delhi Tamil Youth Forum staged a protest in the streets of Delhi today to register their anger against the incoming Government’s decision to extend invitation to Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa who is accused of war crime. Sri Lankan Army killed more than 40,000 Tamil Civilians in May 2009 as per UN.
President Mahinda Rajapaksha’s Army killed more than 1000 LTTE Leaders and their family members who surrenders with White Flag after UN officials negotiated the surrender with Sri Lankan government. This killing has made the world loose the trust in UN negociations in future with any conflicting governments as NO action has been taken by the UN against the Sri Lankan government for killing the LTTE Leaders who surrendered with white flage as per UN orders.
Holding banners and chanting against the Sri Lankan president, they were seen dissuading him for making a visit here as they described him as a war criminal. The Lankan president’s visit to India to attend prime minister-designate Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony has stirred up an hornets’ nest in Tamil Nadu with several political parties joining the chorus to stop his arrival.
Prime minister designate Narendra Modi in a first of kind has invited all the heads of State from SAARC nations to attend his swearing-in ceremony on May 26. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Pakistan Prime Minister (head of a State from SAARC nations) are also among those who has been invited to attend the event.
