Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader Rauff Hakeem, said recently he felt sorry for the derogatory remarks made by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader against him comparing the late founder leader of the SLMC M.H.M. Ashroff and the current leadership of the SLMC mentioning the founder leader as the true leader of the Muslim community and saying that the present leadership of the SLMC has been working against the political aspirations of the Muslim community.

Hakeem further said that under the past regime military officers held administrative posts in the Trincomalee District. With the introduction of the 19th Amendment military personnel had been removed from the posts of civil officers.
Meanwhile, Minister Rishad Bathiutheen said that the upcoming parliamentary election is a crucial one because the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is contesting in the Kurunegala District to become the Prime Minister. He should not be allowed to win the election to become the Prime Minister. “Important portfolios were given to us in the past government by the former President. But we could not discharge our duties without interference,” he said.
He further stated that the current Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is an honest leader.
Above ideas were expressed at an election rally at Kinniya Urban Council grounds. UNP candidates Daya Gamage, Imran Maharoof and M.S. Thowfeek also attended the rally.
