Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation is to help the people who are living in Vavuniya Poonthoattam refugee camp through fulfilling their need for houses. These people are struggling in this camp for 25 years without a permanent residence.
Accordingly, Lyca housing scheme is to be established in Vavuniya North Chinnadamban Rasapuram area to fulfill the need for a house of 150 including the 104 Poonthoattam camp dwellers.
This particular area is named as “Lyca Village” and each family is given with 80 perches land and with a farming land.
Lycamobile Chairman Allirajah Subaskaran headed the event and the Gnanam Foundation Co-chairman Gnanambikai Allirajah also has participated. Further, former president Chandrika Bandaranayaka chaired the event.
With them, the acting general secretary of SLFP Duminda Dissanayaka, the deputy chairman of Lyca Prem Sivasamy, Lyca Group Chief Investment and Business Planning Officer Balasingham Rajshankar and Lyca’s Chief Executive Officer Jeyaseelan also participated in the event.
This event took place on last Wednesday and the former president Chandrika Bandaranayaka Kumaratunga unveiled the memorial Thupa of Lyca Village and the name board of Lyca Village.
Following this, she ceremonially laid the first foundation stone for Lyca housing scheme and the SLFP general secretary Duminda Dissanayaka, Lycamobile Chairman Allirajah Subaskaran and the Gnanam Foundation Co-chairman Gnanambikai Allirajah also laid the foundation stones.
Then the leader of TNA R.Sambanthan joined with the group of chief guests and they were taken to the stage.
While the chief guests were heading to the stage, people stood both sides, waved their hands and expressed their gratitude. Then the explanation about this particular project was addressed in the stage.
Following this, the students staged a dance programme and then the SLFP general secretary Duminda Dissanayaka addressed. In his address, he said that Subaskaran Alliraja is being a philanthropist to work for his native people.
After that, the former president delivered a speech. In her speech she noted that there is no one to compare with the Lycamobile chairman Alliraja Subaskaran in helping others. Also, she said that Mr. Alliraja promised her to sort out the drinking water problem prevails in Jaffna.
Then the leader of TNA R.Sambandhan delivered a speech. In his speech R.Sambandhan noted that many others also should come forward like the Lycamobile chairman Allirajah Subaskaran.
After the speeches, the land deeds were shared to the people. During that, the service users thanked the Lycamobile chairman.
Finally, the Lycamobile Chairman Mr. Subaskaran Alliraja had friendly chats with the Lyca Gnanam Foundation workers and left from the place with the blessings of the people.
