Resistance to Karuna joining TPC

Karuna Amman alias Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan says he will consider joining the newly formed Tamil People’s Council (TPC) in the North, adding that he welcomes the goals of the organization with its many progressive ideas which could be extended to the East as well.
He said those who have stood against the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and its policies have today closed ranks with it to work together under the umbrella of the TPC. “TNA is a coalition. It was emphasized by many parties that it should be registered. However, the leadership failed to give it the green light,” he said.
There is a constituent party within the TNA, which is functioning in a dictatorial manner and trying to control the member parties, while it has simultaneously tried to pledge support to the government against the mandate of the Tamil people. This is why the TPC was formed to stand against it, he said.
He added that instead of casting aspersions on the TPC it would be better to examine the reasons why this organization has been formed.
The TPC was formed on Sunday (20) under the Co- Chairmanship of Northern Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran to expedite the process of exploring a political solution to the national question and to address other humanitarian issues in the North.
Other sources, however, say that there are members who are against Muralitharan and they will not permit him to join the TPC.
