Tamil People’s Council discusses several issues

RS-CVW-TNA-600x351The Tamil People’s Council led by Northern Province Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran met today and discussed several issues.

The meeting took place following a meeting held between Wigneswaran and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R. Sampanthan on Christmas day.

There have been concerns among members of the TNA that the Tamil People’s Council is looking at being an alternative Tamil political party.

At the meeting held in Jaffna today the Tamil People’s Council discussed the proposed electoral reforms, the political solution for the Tamils and other issues concerning the Tamils in the North.

Northern Province Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran was recently appointed as the head of the new organisation comprising Tamil politicians and civil society members.

The main committee in the ‘Tamil People’s Council’ includes Tamil National Alliance members Dharmalingham Sidharthan and Suresh Premachandran and Tamil National People’s Front leader Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam. (Colombo Gazette)
