Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said though he had been invited over the telephone to the first anniversary celebrations of the government he was unable to participate as he had to visit the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. He said he had been invited by a government official.
Some of the government politicians who accused the UPFA government of abductions had been active members of the much dreaded vigilante group known as PRRA which abducted people in pajeros and ran torture chambers where thousands of suspected JVPers were killed in the late 1980s, the former President claimed.
The big questions are, if former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is talking the truth,
- Why were these politicians NOT arrested for killing, when he was in power?
- Can he reveal the details of the government politicians involved in running torture camps and killing of JVP suspects?
- Is he NOT breaking the law by not informing the police of these details?
- Is he lying to the public and damaging the good name of the current government politicians?
