Ex-President sees appointment of Fonseka as MP becoming legal issue

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said the appointment of leader of the Democratic Party and former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as an MP via the National List would become a legal issue.

Rajapaksa said it was likely that a member of the UNP would raise objections and resort to legal action.

He said Dr. Ravinath Fernando, taken into custody along with his son Yoshitha on money laundering charges had been transferred to the Bogambara prison as he was scheduled to sit an examination at the Peradeniya University.
