Stage set for New Sinhala Racist party under Mahinda

Former Minister and Parliamentarian, Basil Rajapaksa has decided to clear the air over the formation of a new political party and claims that it is the people who had called for a new force to combat the government.

In an interview to Weekend Nation, Rajapaksa speaks about the process towards forming a new party and responds to allegations of striking a deal with the United National Party (UNP).

He said the formation of a new political front with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the helm revealed that the name and symbol of the party was expected to be finalised by the end of next week.

In addition, moves are also afoot to form two new trade unions for the public and private sector institutions that would be affiliated to the newly formed political party. Sources revealed that discussions pertaining to the formation of the trade unions are in progress and would be officially announced after the political party is formed. These unions will work under Rajapaksha family and call for strikes to disrupt and bring down the present government.

It was proposed that an announcement regarding the launch of the new party would be announced at today’s rally in Ratnapura by Mahinda to bully the SLFP Maithiri group but President Mithiri had shown no sign of budge and was happy to see the racists Rajapaksha family members go and form a new party hence Mahinda Rajapaksha has called off the announcement

Abewardena, an MP within the Joint Opposition, said that he along with several other SLFP members were not supportive of a new Racist party headed by Mahinda or Rajapaksha family.
