Speaking to our reporters, a senior Police officer who is involved in the investigations said wounds on his private parts were suggestive of an attempted circumcision.
He also stated that the group had attempted to cut him with blade.
Hospital sources also confirmed that there were a few injuries on his head which were suggestive of an assault. They also said the group had intoxicated the Thera before releasing him near the ‘Hirana bridge’ in Panadura.
Vijitha Thera, who is presently receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital, is to undergo a scan-test, hospital sources added.
The Police officer said Vijithe Thera was in a state of shock and therefore the Police could not record a statement from him.
