Sri Lanka Government cannot ignore UN resolution – M.A. Sumanthiran

The Sri Lanka government cannot escape from implementing UN resolution imposed on Sri Lanka even if the Donald Trump’s administration does not support, said TNA parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran.

Addressing at a book launching ceremony in Kilinochchi on Monday (Nov 14), Mr. Sumanthiran said even if the USA withdraws its support, the SL government has to obey to other 47 member countries of the UN.

Commenting on the criticisms on Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan’s statement saying it could be able to solve the problems of Tamil people by the end of 2016, he said the interim report of the new constitution will reveal what steps would be taken through constitution on 19th of November.

The second interim report which consists of the matters of devolution and governing system will be submitted to the Constitutional Council by 10th of December, which would make people understand how the problems be solved, he added.
