Proposed constitution won’t endanger security – Prez

President Maithripala Sirisena who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces has assured a delegation of ex-servicemen led by retired Rear Admiral and former UPFA Deputy Minister Sarath Weerasekera that the proposed Constitution wouldn’t be inimical to national security.

President Maithripala Sirisena also emphasised that he would always look after the interests of the armed forces. The assurance was given when the ex-servicemen met the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

A spokesperson for the Presidential Secretariat told The Island that they had discussed problems faced by ex-servicemen and an assurance had been given to them that their welfare would be looked after (SF)
