- ”Gotabhaya would not be allowed to be arrested” says Justice minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe
- President has instructed the IGP to summon Gothapaya for questioning
- Gota remains silent in the face of CID questioning!
Last Friday (02), former defence secretary Gotabhaya Nandasena Rajapaksa went to the CID as per summons and remained silent in the face of questioning by its officials, say CID sources.
As his usual self, Gotabhaya has gone into a rage over the questioning, but was told by a top CID official, ‘Sir…. Please do not be angry and answer what you are asked. These officers are doing their duty. Cooperate with them.”
Will Gota have to stay in the CID?
The CID is to question the ex-defence secretary over several incidents, including the disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda, Lasantha Wickrematunge murder and the assaults on Upali Tennakoon and Namal Perera.
Justice minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe has vowed that Gotabhaya would not be allowed to be arrested as long as he remained in the ministry, but the president has instructed the IGP to summon for questioning and punish anyone for wrongdoing irrespective of position. Accordingly, very controversial arrests are likely very soon, the sources add.
