Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan says that the government is still in a neutral position with regard to giving a political solution to the problems of the people in the north and east.
He further says that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is waiting patiently, although there seems to be no political solution.
He had made the above statement at a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Keinchi Suganuma at the Opposition Leader’s Office
During the meeting, the Opposition Leader had said that he is willing to discuss with the government in order to get the Tamil political prisoners released.
He had said that he is expecting to hold a special discussion with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe after the Human Rights Council General Assembly in Geneva. The discussion will focus on the Constitutional reform the government promised to give as a solution to the problems of the people in the north and east.
He had further said that that the decisions which will be taken at the Human Rights Council General Assembly will be important to TNA, and that he will discuss those decisions with the government.
