210870_34801617The Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka denied claims by India that one of its diplomats was involved in managing Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence Service (ISI) activities in India.
The Indian media recently reported that a Pakistani Diplomat in Sri Lanka was on the radar of Indian intelligence agencies since 2012. According to Times of India, Amir Zubair Siddiqui is, “The person managing ISI activities in India from Sri Lanka.”

However, the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka called the campaign as “a crude attempt to tarnish the image of Pakistan, its High Commission in Sri Lanka and to spoil the extremely cordial Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations.” They also strongly condemned ‘this insidious media activity’ and strongly denied any involvement in espionage or terrorist activity.

“This is a baseless and concocted story which is leaked with malicious intent,” said Media Attache Muhammad Daud Ehtisham, and said the Officer has completed his full tenure at the Mission in an uninterrupted manner to the fullest satisfaction of the Ministry.

When asked if the Pakistani High Commission plans to assign him to another location due to the allegations, Ehtisham said that after completion of his posting term, he will be posted back to the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Islamabad as per the routine annual posting plan.
