Nedumaran for strong condemnation of Sri Lanka

NEDUMARANThe Tamizhar Desiya Munnani on Monday urged the Union government to condemn Sri Lanka in the strongest terms for publication of a derogatory article on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lankan Defence website.

Speaking to reporters, Tamizhar Desiya Munnani president P. Nedumaran said that all political parties in Tamil Nadu had condemned the Sri Lankan Government in the strongest terms forcing Lanka to issue an apology and remove the derogatory post from the website. However, that was not enough as the incident deserved condemnation in the strongest terms from the Centre.

Mr. Nedumaran said that no other country had dared to depict the Chief Minister of an Indian State in such a manner, adding that the soft stand adopted by the previous Congress government and the ruling BJP had emboldened Lanka to publish such an article on its website.

He said that China and Pakistan had gained a strategic foothold in Sri Lanka jeopardising the security of south India. He added that the Katchatheevu agreement between India and Sri Lanka should be rescinded as it was not ratified by Parliament.
