WHO IS IN CHARGE? THE YELLOW ROBED MONKS OR MAHINDA RAJAPAKSA AND HIS 100 ODD MINISTERS?

MahindaToHitler_LnWThe Dead and Missing Person’s Parents Front (DMPPF) today charged that certain NGOs and foreign groups had invited relatives of disappeared LTTE cadres to Colombo to give evidence against Sri Lanka via the internet on the promise they would be paid Rs.200,000.

DMPFF advisor Ven. Angulugalle Siri Jinananda Thera asked the organisers why the DMPPF was not invited to last evening’s meeting held at the Centre for Society and Religion (CSR) at Deans Road, Maradana and inquired whether the External Affairs Ministry was aware of what was happening.

“Can any international organisation hold any gatherings or meetings without supervision or participation of government authorities,” he questioned.

The monk said Mannar Citizens’ Committee President Britto Fernando, who is also the President of the Organisation for the Families of the Disappeared had organised the meeting.

“It is learnt that the participants were to give evidence through the Internet. We decided to storm the CSR with several Buddhist monks and members of our organisation. We found no diplomatic officials there and that the organisers had invited several foreign representatives close to them,” the Thera said. “The organisers had given a wrong impression of our organisation and the foreign representatives who attended the meeting did not seek any clarification from us.

The Thera said the organisers had painted a wrong picture to the diplomats and that was why we disrupted the meeting.

“It is obvious that a group of individuals are prepared to betray the country for money,” the monk said.

He said there was only one Dead and Missing Person’s Parents Front, representing missing persons and had a membership of more than 500. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
