The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) yesterday (19) revealed that investigations are being conducted to arrest more suspects, in connection with the assault and sexual harassment of a Scottish couple at a night club, by Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka and his associates.

Seven suspects, including Malaka Silva are currently in remand custody.
“Based on the CCTV footage from the nightclub, it is clear that there are some more suspects, other than those already in remand custody, who had been involved in the attack launched on the British national James Karnely,” OIC of the CCD, CI Neville De Silva said. He added that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects who are still at large.
Investigations so far have revealed that the suspects now in remand and those who are yet to be arrested had colluded with Malaka Silva to abduct Karnley’s fiancée, Bilinda McKenzie, with intent to commit sexual abuse. At that moment Karnely had warded off the attempted abduction by attacking Malaka Silva, police disclosed.
The CCD also stated that Karnely acted in self defence to avert the abduction of his fiancée.
