Grenade explosion in Jaffna – trying to STOP Tamils from voting Maithiri?

jaffnaA grenade explosion was reported some 800 meters away from a polling booth in Point Pedro this morning, the Campaign for a Free and Fair Election (CaFFE) reported.

CaFFE Executive Director Keerthi Tenakoon said that the hand grenade attack had been reported at the Navaladi junction in Point Pedro.

People who were going to vote had fled after the blast but the local election monitoring group said that voting is continuing at the polling booth in the area.

The North has more Army on the road than any other part of Sri Lanka, hence a normal person cannot carry a grenade. Only Paramilitary can carry guns and Grenades other than the Army.

The North of Sri Lanka are dominated by Tamils who support Maithiri and the public suspect that the Sri Lankan governments Para Military had done this to Stop people from voting Maithiri.
