Writer and Director of ”Vanni Mouse” Tamiliam Subas Honoured in London.

London Tamils gathered at the Tamil House Auditorium in Tottenham on Saturday 15th May to honour a young Tamil, who. At the tender age of 27 , became the first Eelam Tamil to win international recognition for his short films “Vanni Mouse” and “Can I have a dream?”.

“Vanni Mouse” takes us on a short journey through the concentration camps of Vanni and makes us witness the horrors inflicted on our people even today.. “Can I have a dream?” is a heart-rending story of a little Tamil girl who ends up in a wheelchair due to the state terror unleashed  on Eelam Tamils.

The event was organised by Eelavar Thiraikalai Manrum, founded by Barrister S.J.Joseph. This well-attended event was presided  over by veteran broadcaster and senior solicitor Wimal Sockanathan. Several speakers, including dramatist and broadcaster Mr.Darcicious, film citic Jamuna Rajendran, solicitor Mr.Yogaratnam, poet, writer and broadcater Mrs. Navajothy Yogaratnam, Deepam T.V presenters M.N.M Annas , Rajitha Sam paid complements to young Subas , who had travelled from Norway to be at the event.

Well done Gota. Don’t accommodate LTTE supporters. We lost lot of people both Tamil and Singhala to get rid of the terrorists from our country. Many people sacrificed heavily for this task and we expect you not to give in to these people who want to start the same old game. No more terrorism, No LTTe or its supporters. If there are Tamil people who are insecure in the North then they can come to the South or any area of the country and live ( as about good 40% do.) and we will look after them (the peaceful ones). Most of my Tamil friends do not want the LTTE to come back and are silently grateful to you for what you have done. Think of security of all these people.

It would be extremely foolish to do anything, but what the defence secretary as he has the best information on the situation. I fully endorse his decision. The North and the East is a part of Sri Lanka and without a military prescence the LTTE will regroup again in these areas. All communities should have the right and be allowed to settle down and live without hindrance in any part of the country without discrimination. This is why the people supported the war and also voted the Rajapaksa clan to power as they had full confidence in them that they will protect the rights of all communities, not only the Tamils in the North and the east. These same supposedto be innocent Tamils killed many Sinhalese people in the North and East to carry out ethnic cleansing. This cannot be allowed to happen ever again. We should establish Military bases in these ares as required to protect all communities. Those crying for de-militarization are doing so to frighten and chase out other communit

Well Done.. Never ever give upto the demands which sacrifice the Country Security. Also its important to resettle all those people who fled north and east since start of war. Including Sinhalese and Muslims. There cant be areas which are reserved for certain race in this country as TNA and LTTE demanded. There should be a mix of all races as in Colombo and its Government responsibility to work towards this to establish long lasting PEACE.

Its truly amaze me how this TNA could possibly make such demand. TNA is saying that Tamils sholud live up North but no one else but Tamils should be allowed to Live any where in Sri Lanka. Incase if you didnt know Tamils live all parts of Sri Lanka over 40% of the Tamil population live in Colombo and around colombo so who is the real racist group here?? is it the Sinhalese who only can live in West and South of Sri Lanka because of LTTE or Tamils who live all over Sri Lanka but wont let any Sinhalese or Muslims to live in the North or North East of Sri Lanka? Unfortunately Western countries are either turinig a blind eye to the fact or they are realy stupid. Tamil Diasporas in West knows exactly how to milk these western cows and make it looks like its the sinhalese who is the racist ones.

No part of Sri Lanka must be allowed to become a mono-ethnic ghetto. Till recently some 40% of the population in Colombo were Tamils, but this proportion seems to be dropping as more and more more are returning to reclaim their land and property, which they had had to abandon when the area was dominated by the terrorists. The Tamils in the north would be well advised to live amicably with the rest of the population as equals and not demand the privileges they had under the British colonialists.
