Parliamentarian Thenuka Vidanagamage and his brother Uwa Provincial Council election candidate Anura Vidanagamage, who allegedly threatened a Deputy Elections Commissioner, were surrendered to the Mahiyanganaya police, today morning.The two brothers were enlarged on bail after they were produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate, a short while ago. The suspects were released on personal bail of Rs.100,000, each.
The Mahiyanganaya police launched investigation in connect to the incident following a complaint lodged by Deputy Elections Commissioner Namal Thalanganama.
Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has also written to the Commissioner of Elections concerning election rallies that held in Badulla district, violating election laws and directives issued by the Commissioner, and on this regard.
