JHU to meet President with 8 resolution.

Champika-300x225JHU will not support Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at any election because he supports the 13th amendment of the country’s constitution which gives some rights to the minorities. JHU is opposed to giving equal rights to the minority of the country and wants them to live as second class citizens in the country.

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) today said its resolutions would be discussed with President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the objective of deciding whether to back him at a future Presidential Election. The JHU at its 11th Convention held on Sunday adopted eight resolutions including one to amend the present Constitution and to reduce the number of Cabinet Ministers to 25. This is in view of President Mahinda Rajapaksa had promised to implement 12 proposals presented by National Freedom Front, led by Wimal Weerawansain return for NFF’s support for him in the Presidential election.

Party Assistant Secretary and the Western Provincial Council Minister Udaya Gammanpila said they would field another candidate at a presidential election if the President was not in favour of JHU resolutions. “If the President didn’t agree to our resolutions, we will field a candidate, who would represent the majority Sinhalese of the country. UPFA coalition member party – Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) and government Minister Champika Ranawakahas said he is ashamed and angered about the present state of affairs in the country and of the multiple chances that were missed by the Rajapaksa regime to change the country’s governance system for the better.

Commenting on the European Court of Justice (ECJ) lifting the sanctions placed on the LTTE, the Minister said the decision portrayed how the European Union (EU) was politicised. He said some European countries like France and the United Kingdom attempted to free the LTTE Leaders during the last phase of the war but failed. “This is why the EU had decided to lift up the sanction,” he said.

During the last phase of the war in May 2009 UN negotiated a white flag surrender of the LTTE Leaders who were cheated by the Americans promise ”to surrender to Sri Lanka soldiers and they will be shipped abroad”. More than 1000 LTTE Leaders and their family members surrendered to Sri Lankan forces on the 18th May 2009 after UN officials negotiated the surrender with White flag. But all the LTTE Leaders and their family members who surrendered with White flag were killed by the Sri Lankan forces. The UN negotiating officer who is a close associate of Rajapaksha family and close to Indian congress party leaders said he went to sleep after negotiating the white flag surrender and he is unaware of what happened to the surrendered LTTE Leaders or their family members.
