Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka Silva has been arrested by Police in connection with assault on a foreign couple at a night club in Bambalapitiya early this morning. Police sources told Asian Mirror that Malaka Silva has been remanded till Tuesday.
- Silva’s name was mentioned in connection with a number of controversies in the recent past. Last year, he was assaulted by an unidentified group at the car part of Odel over an incident involving a girl.
- Before that, he allegedly assaulted an Army officer inside a hotel premises in Colombo and the latter sustained head injuries. However, no action was taken against the Minister’s Son.
Malaka Silva’s entry into politics has already been announced by his father. The Minister had indicated his son would enter politics from the district of Matara. Malaka Silva openly claimed that he wanted to be the Education Minister of Sri Lanka one day!
Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told Daily Mirror online that the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) has produced Mr. Silva before the Judge this evening. “Mr. Silva was remanded until November 4, for allegedly assaulting a Scottish couple at a Night Club in the early hours today,” the spokesman said. – See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/55639/malaka-silva-remanded#sthash.GMQrf0af.dpuf
