The factory which has been identified as a temporary resettlement shelter for the victims of the Koslanda landslide is capable of housing only 37 families, whereas 3,000 persons are cramped into this shelter, according to a source in Koslanda.
The source further added that over 300 persons are being housed in schools, temples and kovils with minimum facilities.
These people are demanding the authorities to find them permanent housing, as conditions are beyond liveable.
The factory is an old tea factory which was shut down 10 years ago and authorities are starting to refurbish the place.
“They are hoping to finish it in three – four months, and set up 37 houses for the affected families”, he added.
