Wickremabahu defends Ranil against his erstwhile comrade

வாசுதேவ_நாணயக்காரKANDY – What MP Vasudewa Nanayakkara said of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament last Thursday was unparliamentary, the Nawa Sama Samaja Party Leader said in Kandy.

Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne said that the dignity of parliament should not be affronted by such foul language.

He made the remarks addressing a meeting organised by the Citizens Assembly (Purawesi Haula) on Saturday (23).

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe was earlier taunted as ‘Wedaberi Tazan’ but his detractors have had to accept that he a capable political leader.

Some politicians involved in corruption were living in fear since complaints against them were being investigated and brought before the law, Dr. Karunaratne noted.

He said there should be no leniency when the corrupt were dealt with. They should be brought to book urgently, he said.

The January 08 victory was not the end and there were many more things to be done to make the country a better place to live in, he added.

Dr. Linayage Amarakeerthi, Attorney Lal Wijenayaka, Susantha Senanayaka, Raja Uswatakeiyawa, Jayatilaka Bandara and Several others addressed the meeting titled ‘Veediya Kathikawath’.
