UNP forms new alliance to contest against UPFA

The SLFP – which is the main constituent of the UPFA – had shown signs of an impending split as a result of the continuous political movement carried out by loyalists of Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was defeated at the January election, to ensure that he is given nominations to contest the general election.

I will quit politics if Mahinda gets a vote more than me – Sujeewa

Former Deputy Minister of Justice Sujeewa Senasinghe today vowed to leave politics forever, if former President Mahinda Rajapaksa obtains even a single vote more than him at the forthcoming General Election. Speaking at an event in Hokandara, he stated that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s one brother was Defence Minister, the other was Economic Minister while his son was “Minister of everyone.”

 Senasinghe stated that there has never been a leader in the history of any country who has been humiliated as Mahinda Rajapaksa has been. “Who sits for O/Ls after they have passed A/Ls?”
