Sampanthan says the TNA would be able to settle all political and humanitarian issues by 2016 if the Tamils in North and East ensure a massive victory for the TNA in the coming general election.
Sampanthan’s assurance came in an address to party members and supporters at an event in Trincomalee last Thursday on the imminent parliamentary election.

Sampanthan said: “The Tamil National Alliance is willing to wind up its political aspirations with a massive victory at the Parliamentary poll and to achieve a solution to the Tamil question by 2016. Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam of the Tamil National People’s Front says that it is only now that we have begun our political journey. We believe that we cannot continue forever with this political journey nor are we interested in doing so.

Tamil people in the Northern and Eastern Provinces should work hard to ensure a massive victory for the Tamil National Alliance.
This victory will help us to advance towards a political solution for our people by 2016.
We are scheduled to face a most important election which will be crucial to solving our problems in the future. With the end of war, the North and East Provincial elections proved the strength of the minorities. Our election manifesto which will highlight the aspirations of the Tamil speaking people will be released this week. We expect to have an overall victory of 20 Parliamentary seats.
