The Ratnapura District with its eight polling divisions offers 10 members to be elected from the district to Parliament. In 2010, seven out of the 10 seats were won by the UPFA. The highlight in the UPFA list however, is former Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara who is currently campaigning for a seat in Parliament from jail. Ceylon Today interviewed UNP candidate Karunarathna Paranawithana and UPFA candidate John Seneviratne to see who would take Ratnapura.
