A US-backed domestic investigation is more dangerous than an international investigation

isaipriya-and-Chennel-4-21Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has let the cat out of the bag when he revealed the intention of his government to prosecute those who had liberated the country from terrorism in the name of a domestic war crimes investigation, Colombo District MP elect Udaya Gammanpila said yesterday.

Wickremesinghe in an interview with The Hindu has said that the government had agreed to a domestic investigation.

Addressing a press conference at the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) head office in Colombo, Gammanpila said that the visit of the United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal was part of the domestic war crime investigation proposed by the government.

A US-backed domestic investigation is more dangerous than an international investigation,” Gammanpila said.

War Crime sri lanka-“This domestic investigation is like a person who is new to driving a vehicle with ‘L’ board. He has to follow all instructions of his master. Similarly, Sri Lanka will follow the instructions of the US in conducting the proposed domestic investigation.”

Commenting on the opposition leadership post, Gammanpila said that President Maithripala Sirisena would appoint the Opposition Leader the same way as he had appointed the PM, Cabinet Ministers and the National Lists MPs.

The UPFA could not be dissolved as it had 95 MPs and around 350 provincial council members, Gammanpila said.
