Former President Chandrika  and Tamil National Alliance Leader R.Sampanthan were Chief guests at an event held in Poonthottam in Vavuniya to hand over deeds to displaced people. Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake, Vavuniya Government Agent, Gnanam Foundation Founder Mrs Allirasa and Director Subaskaran were also present. 104 displaced families in Poonthoddam Welfare Centre were handed over deeds at a ceremony held there. Resolution in 2009 was not fully implemented

The resolution in support of Sri Lanka presented to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in 2009 was not fully implemented by Mahinda Government, former Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said today. Samarasinghe, who was the Minister in charge of human rights at the time, said that if the resolution was fully implemented then the 2012 and 2013 resolutions against Sri Lanka may have faced difficulties in being adopted.
