2015 GCE A/L – Poor results in North & East

2015 GCE A/L high fliers


The GCE Advanced Level 2015 results were released yesterday (3), said the Department of Examinations. Results could be promptly obtained via the following: www.doenets.lk. and www.results.exams.gov.lk.

  • Dasun Jayasinghe of Royal College, Colombo has topped the island in the Maths stream according to the 2015 GCE Advanced Level examination results.
  • Second place was obtained by Dananjaya Dissanayake of Maliyadeva College (Boys), Kurunegala,
  • while Sachith Kasthuriarachchi of Ratnapura Seevali Central College obtained third place in the island.
  • Thepuli Umesha from Rathnawali Balika Maha Vidyalaya has obtained the island first ranking in the Bio Science stream.
  • J.M. Mohamed of the President’s Science College, Puttalam obtained second place
  • and Wathsala Siriwardene of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo have obtained third places.
  • Akila Mohammed of Maliyadeva College (Boys), Kurunegala topped the Island in the Commerce stream,
  • Sadani Iranga Withanage of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo obtained second
  • Ramesh Silva of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa obtained third place.
  • Jeewa Nayanamalee of Maliyadeva College (Girls), Kurunegala was ranked first in the Island in the Arts stream.
  • Nirasha Kularatna of Pushpadana Girls’ College, Kandy, obtained second
  • Fathima Ismail of Ladies College, Colombo obtained  third place.
  • Meanwhile, Shanaka Anuradha Samarakoon – St. Thomas’ College, Matale came first in Engineering stream.
  • Vasana Marasinghe from Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Bandarawela came in first in Bio System Technology.
  • Buddhika Chaturanga Karunaratne of Seewali Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Ratnapura came in first in the Common stream.

A total of 309,069 candidates sat for the Advanced Level Examination in 2015.
From this number, 236,072 were school candidates, while 72,997 sat the Exam privately. The Examination was held for a period of 10 days from the 17th of August 2015.

Principals of the schools in the Colombo and Sri Jayewardenepura zones were able to obtain their respective results sheets from the Department of Examinations yesterday (3).
The results sheets of the rest of the schools will be issued via the respective principals today (4). It was previously announced that the 2015 AL Results would be released on 31 December, 2015. However, the Department decided to postpone the release date to 3 January 2016.
