The CID said that two Ex LTTE activists who were working for the Rajapaksha government, had turned State witnesses in the Prageeth Ekneligoda disappearance case confessed to Homagama Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake at his official residence on Tuesday 16 February that the army personnel now under custody had used their National Identity Cards to get mobile phone SIM cards under their names. The CID said that an examination of calls taken via those SIM cards showed that the entire plan to abduct Ekneligoda had been a long premeditated one.
Making submissions to the Homagama Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday the CID said they had received information to the effect that the Army personnel who are in custody under allegations of complicity in the abduction and disappearance of Ekneligoda had used the NICs of the two Ex LTTE members working for the Rajapaksha gvernment to get SIM cards under their names.
The two Ex LTTE suspects were working for Rajapaksha government under Karuna’s leadeship are said to be residents of Kuchchaveli in the Trincomalee District and Kalladi in the Batticaloa District respectively.
