Deputy Minister Eran Wickramaratne says the election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States will benefit Sri Lanka and developing countries in the future.

Joining the debate on the second reading of the 2017 Budget, Deputy Minister Wickramaratne said, if the economic policies proposed by US President-Elect Trump were implemented, developing countries will receive several benefits.

Commenting on the statement made by Donald Trump on the re-evaluation of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement, Deputy Minister Eran Wickramaratne said it will help other countries to penetrated untouched economies.

However, the Deputy Minister said several other policies of Donald Trump will be detrimental.

Meanwhile, commenting on the 2017 Budget, Deputy Minister Wickramaratne said the government has focused on job creation through new proposals.

Deputy Minister Eran Wickramaratne added that education and science have been given priority.
