Now…. Minister Swaminathan ‘Promises’ better future for Tamils!

A special event to hand over 78 houses, to needy families, was organized in Morakkoddanchenai, Batticaloa on Saturday (26).
The Minister of Rehabilitation, and Resettlement, D. M. Swaminathan graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister stated: “The good governance Government is fully aware that the people in the North and East, who were affected by the conflict, require 160,000 houses and the government is doing its best to provide these houses. The government will make the people’s dreams a reality.”

The Minister added that the rice mill which was abandoned in the Morakkoddanchenai area will be reconstructed and would generate employment opportunities for hundreds of people.

“Our goal is to give a better life to people who have undergone untold suffering over the past couple of years. The living standards of the people, who are currently living in cadjan and tin sheds, will be changed and the Government is taking every step possible to solve their problems. He added that the Members of Parliament in the respective areas had submitted project plans for the housing projects.

mahinda and srisena 2“We are there to serve the people. We need your utmost cooperation to do that. Batticaloa District Parliamentarians are with me and we are going to rebuild this place. There is a demand for Palmyrah products overseas. If you can develop Palmyrah products, we will make the necessary arrangements to market and export those products and improve the living standards of people in the area.”
Batticaloa District TNA Parliamentarian, G. Srinesan, Batticaloa Government Agent, P.S.M. Charles, Batticaloa District Planning Director, R. Neduncheliyan, and Assistant Director for Planning, S. Suthakaran were present.

After attending this event in Morakkoddanchenai, the Minister visited Eravur Hindu Temple and pledged his support for the construction of the Rajakopuram. Later on, he visited Kokkaddichcholai Thanthoreswerar Temple, inspected the construction work, and pledged his support for the construction work.
