Campaigners on the Road – Rajapakshes in Hotel Rooms

ranil mahindaSince yesterday rooms in high class hotels in Colombo, such as Shangri-La, Taj Samudra and Hilton, have been reserved by many people.

It is for the campaign planned to be held today by the Joint Opposition Party.

Usually, pre-reservations are made in relate to a protest, opposition or a political campaign for a stadium that people can gather; otherwise a conference hall. However, neither any stadium nor any conference hall has been reserved by the Rajapakshes in light of this campaign until last night.

Nevertheless, rooms with maximum facilities in hotels such as Shangri-La, Taj Samudra and Hilton have already been reserved by the group. The main organizer of the campaign Mr. Namal Rajapakshe has organized the event in rather an unorthodox way. He stated yesterday that they will make a raid in the Colombo city and spend the night. Then to whom these hotel rooms have been reserved for?

By now, the former Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakshe and his followers are resident in the Shangri-La hotel. He accesses this hotel for all his necessities. Even the Chief Security Officer of the hotel is a son-in-law to the Rajapakshes–therefore no threat in security may ever occur.

Meanwhile, Mr. Namal Rajapakshe has reserved Hilton for his benefit, and even the final discussions round in regard to the campaign had been made in the hotel.

The former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe with his closest followers by now stays at Taj Samudra hotel. The hotel room which has been reserved for him is a Super Suite Model 757 one. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe has reserved this room for the benefit of watching the campaigning taking place better sitting from the room itself. Reports say that by now he is observing his followers participating in the campaign from his room.

Accordingly, this campaign organized by the Namal group is a chucklesome campaign!

The Namal Rajapakshes in air-conditioned rooms feeling the cold air are not just grieving themselves like this to fulfil their own comfort; for the future of the general people, against the Government tormenting the lives of general people; for sending that Government home and establish back one so people-friendly, law-abiding and democratic.

Today the Joint Opposition supporters who participate in the ‘Janabalaya Kolambata’ campaign will probably experience a rather chucklesome campaign. To oppose the present Government, they will probably be privileged to spend the night in a high-luxury hotel room, experiencing the best facilities, with food and beverages included, for free, and maybe by tomorrow the Government may have to pack up and leave.
