Cases against 3 from Mahinda’s family heard yesterday

Three members of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s family were involved in three separate cases  that were heard at the Colombo High Court Complex yesterday (9).

They were namely, former Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

A case was called at the Court Hall Number One, pertaining to the alleged misappropriation of Divi Neguma funds, amounting to Rs 36 million, towards the purchase of GI pipes during the previous Presidential Polls campaign by Basil Rajapaksa.

A case filed by the Attorney General (AG) against Gotabaya Rajapaksa was taken up for hearing before a Special Permanent High Court-at-Bar, where he has been charged with allegedly misappropriating a sum of Rs 40 million from State funds towards the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa museum at Weeraketiya.

A case filed by the AG against Namal Rajapaksa and five others, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, over the alleged investment of a sum of Rs 30 million in the Gowers Corporate was taken up for hearing in the Court Number Two.
