Former TNA MP sentenced to jail

Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian P. Piyasena was today sentenced to four years in jail for misusing a state vehicle.

He was found guilty of misusing the vehicle after losing his seat in Parliament.

He crossed over from TNA to Mahindas government for personal benefits offered by former President Mahinda. He was so confident that he had the backing of the Sinhale government for crossing over from representing TNA to government he continued to use the government facilities even after he lost the election. No government officers stopped him from abusing the government assets due to his close links with leading politicians in government.

He never realised that he will be dump by the Sinhala leaders when he is of no use to them, a lesson every politicians who change parties after their selection should know in Sri Lanka.
