Govt. sets agenda: 20A gets priority

The Government, headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, has now commenced their work with the first in the list of duties already being earmarked – constitutional amendments.

Now that the Cabinet and state ministerial portfolios have been assigned and the inaugural Cabinet meeting and parliamentary sessions scheduled for this week, it is crunch time for the Government, which is engaged in an aggressive programme to develop the national economy.

The structure of the state ministries that were assigned last week is a clear indication of the Government’s priorities.

It is therefore safe to assume that constitutional amendments and the development of the national economy would receive prominence in the Rajapaksa Government’s governance structure.
