Former SL Cricketer Thilan Samaraweera has been appointed as the batting coach for the New Zealand Cricket team, on a temporary basis for a few months, targeting upcoming tours of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
New Zealand is set to join five 20/20 matches in Bangladesh before the 20/20 World Cup initiated in the United Arab Emirates in October, and a three-match ODI series against Pakistan.
Samaraweera has been chosen for these matches.
Samaraweera was the batting coach of the Sri Lanka Cricket team for nearly two years until 2019 World Cup. He also coached for the New Zealand team as a batting coach during the 2019 New Zealand tour.
